In a massive (and occasionally daunting) open-world game made by hundreds of people over thousands and thousands of work hours, I sometimes nestle into one or two areas or goals to make the game feel more manageable. It usually starts out as focus on the story and side quests that interest me; from there, maybe I focus on filling out the map or tracking down secrets. By the end of my time with a game on that scale, one of those tasks triumphs over the others and becomes my favorite element in the game.
You know what, the „good old days“ of gaming actually weren’t that good. I love let’s plays. I love walkthroughs. And there are few things that are better than starting up a game and knowing what you’re doing. In a game as expansive and in-depth as Red Dead Redemption 2 , players are going to need all of the help that they can get if they want to crack into the game and figure out the mechanics in record time. I have spent the better part of this week gathering as much information as I can in order to create an entertaining list of twenty-five tips and tricks that will help you make the most out of your next Red Dead gaming sess
Perhaps the most lauded aspect of the game is its story (aside from maybe the graphics). It’s a beautiful and heartbreaking tale about personal redemption, the end of the outlaw, and the changing American landscape of the late 19th century. At the heart of the story is Arthur Morgan, a violent man who eventually finds redemption (hence the title). It’s a fascinating story on its own, but it also serves as a prequel to the original game. Therefore, it needed to both tell a good story on its own and bridge the gap between 1899 and the events of Red Dead Redemption . And sometimes it stumbles on both accou
Now, this bad boy is crazy fun to use. The Maxim Gun packs a real punch and is basically a cowboy minigun. When you get to use it, you absolutely dominate the fight and it feels amazing. However, the problem is that the Maxim Gun is so rare you barely get to use
Normally, humungous AAA open-world games have aspects and mechanics fighting for my attention. Some may be quest-lines about how to hunt the rarest animals or time trials for rare loot or getting 100% map completion for a super secret message at the end: it’s only by the end that I truly know my favorite element of the entire experience. For Red Dead Redemption 2 Patch Notes Dead Redemption 2 , I knew almost immediately. That journal is special, and I hope you remember to open it up once in a while.
As for Red Dead Redemption II , it has been reading Arthur and John’s journal. Every time I boot up this four-state-sized map filled with details, missions, and content out the wazoo, the very first thing I do is hold left on the D-Pad and read.
What makes the journal even more beautiful is the fact that it records your moments in-game and weaves them into the life of Arthur. I may not be able to make Arthur loyal to Dutch in the end or have him be pals with Micah, but I can decide what side activities he partakes in or the animals he hunts. It gives what I do in-game life. The journal becomes my version of Arthur’s final days, giving my playtime a personal, lively touch that I’ve never experienced in a game before: Arthur’s story and mine intertwine.
Rockstar has implemented a sneaky feature that discourages camping of any kind. Basically, when a player is stationary for too long, the game will broadcast your location to every other player in the match. That’s one sure-fire way to get yourself kil
This pistol weapon is in a similar boat to the Varmint Rifle. The reload speed and rate of fire are pretty good but the damage is weak. When hunting prey, especially small to moderate animals, surely it is best to get them in one clean shot so the pelt has minimal damage and you don’t have to chase after the animal. Plus, this means the hunt is as easy and quick as possible while hopefully earning you more ki
Throughout the game, it’s established that the gang can never go back to Blackwater due to their notoriety and the insane prices on their heads. So, why couldn’t they just pay off the bounty and walk back in? It seems that everything has a price in this game, including morality. You can wipe out an entire city, pay some money, and walk right back in like nothing ever happened. Well, that’s just what the Van der Linde gang did in Blackwater, yet apparently, their crimes were so foul that they went beyond bounties. Why is destroying Blackwater so much worse than destroying Saint De
So why doesn’t Dutch just send one of the ladies to fetch the stash of money? After all, Grimshaw is one of the most respected and loyal members of the gang, and it’s clear by the end of the game that she has the gang’s best interests at heart. She would gladly travel to Blackwater and would never think of taking the money for hers
The Cigarette Cards. Oh, man the Cigarette cards. These are absolutely impossible to collect in any sort of organized fashion. You’ll just happen upon them now and again on your travels as you loot houses. But, if you want to collect them all for 100% completion or something, this absolutely sti
